This magical adventure will take you to the summit of Mount Haleakala, where you will view the rising of the sun as it lights up a volcanic crater that resembles the moon’s surface and is larger than the island of Manhattan, New York. Once you experience sunrise at the summit of Maui’s highest mountain, you will understand why Haleakala is the Hawaiian word for “House of the Sun.” Your NAI Certified Guide will share insightful information about Haleakala’s ecology, geology, history, and mythical stories.
This tour is the best way to enjoy this “must-do” activity without the hassle of driving in the middle of the night, making reservations well in advance, and dealing with traffic. In addition to watching the sunrise from the headquarters of the Haleakala National Park, you will also encounter beautiful local plants like the Silversword, found nowhere else in the world. - Participants must understand and acknowledge the risks involved in such an activity and sign a risk acknowledgment form before participating.
- You must be physically capable of being in very high elevations, being exposed to cold temperatures, and riding on winding roads.
- All ages are welcome, although it might not be appropriate for very small kids. Child prices are for all children ages 12 and under.
- You must follow all rules and guidelines provided by your guide. Those who refuse to follow directions will be denied services and will not be reimbursed.
- Please wear appropriate clothing (layers are best, as temperatures will be very low at the summit and will rise as you head back to sea level)
